Esprit de Coeur (Winter 2009)

Alumnae and alumni are eagerly anticipating the 37th Biennial National Conference in Los Angeles April 23-26, 2009, sponsored by the AASH Western Region. The conference is dedicated to St. Rose Philippine Duchesne who, in 1818, came to the United States as a missionary and founded the Academy of the Sacred Heart in St. Charles, Mo., the first Sacred Heart school in this country. From this school, begun in a log cabin, other schools across the country and around the world were founded. St. Philippine Duchesne was canonized in 1988. The conference theme reflects her missionary work and philosophy, “Missionaries of the Heart: Here to Make a Difference.”
