It seems almost inconceivable that an invading army is once again marching in Europe, harking back to the totalitarian days of the Soviet Union and bringing back the specter of nuclear war. AASH joins with Pope Francis and other global leaders in condemning Russia’s unacceptable armed aggression and calling for an end to the massacre of the Ukrainian people. We, too, find Russia’s rationale to be specious, and agree with Pope Francis that, "Faced with the barbarity of killing of children, of innocents and unarmed civilians, no strategic reasons can hold up."
As we watch the tragic events, let us all join together in prayer for those who are suffering greatly under this unprovoked and unjust invasion. May peace and safety return to Ukraine very soon. We also pray that nearly 80 years of peace can be sustained so we are not drawn into another devastating world war.
